This year, Study Hall School celebrated its Sports Day with a unique twist, embracing the theme “Run for the Climate” to merge the thrill of athletics with a compelling environmental message that loudly echoed the essence of Sustainable Development Goal 13, emphasizing climate action and raising awareness about the importance of protecting our planet.The event took place at the Central Sanskrit University Grounds, and the day was a vibrant mix of competitive spirit, creativity, and climate awareness.
The event commenced with a colourful Opening Ceremony, highlighted by a disciplined March Past led by the school school head boy, head girl, sports captains and the house captains. The harmonious melodies performed by the school orchestra not only guided the students in maintaining their formation and synchronizing their steps during the March Past but also beautifully echoed the theme of social consciousness and care for the environment.
In her inspiring address, Principal Mrs. Meenakshi Bahadur underscored the dual significance of fitness and environmental stewardship, encouraging students to champion climate action. The event was graced by the ex captain of the Indian Hockey team, Mr. Sujit Kumar Srivastava as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Rakesh Pathak the Head of Physical Education department of National PG College, as the Guest of Honour.
A major highlight of the day was “Chakke pe Chakka“, an eco-friendly event that saw enthusiastic participation from parents. Adding to the excitement, teachers showcased their athletic zeal in the race titled “Aa Dekhein Zara”.
Students displayed their sporting prowess across a range of events, including sprints, relays, and obstacle races.
The cheerleaders energized the crowd with vibrant performances, showcasing chants composed by the students themselves,bringing out the house spirit and celebrating the elements of nature.
Each performance reflected the event’s environmental theme, with creatively named presentations such as:
“Under the Canopy” by Class 6
“Eco Warriors” by Class 7
“We Stun in Unison” by Class 9″
“Shaurya: Echoes of Synergy” by Class 8
The grand finale, “Ek Soch Hai Jaagi”, left a profound impression as students, parents and teachers paid homage to Mother Earth. Holding banners with messages like “Every Step Counts for the Planet” and “Run Now, Breathe Tomorrow”, they advocated for sustainable living and inspired the audience.
The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the cock house and other trophies were presented to the winners. In her vote of thanks, the Vice Principal, Mrs. Meenakshi Shah, congratulated all participants and emphasized on that the ultimate triumph lay in raising awareness for climate action.
Sports Day 2024 was more than a celebration of physical endurance and teamwork; it was a reminder of our collective responsibility toward the environment. The event left a lasting impact on the school community, blending the essence of sportsmanship with the spirit of sustainability.
