Goal setting for Child with Autism
One day workshop on “Goal setting for Child with Autism” was organized by Early Intervention Section, Dosti, Study Hall.
The workshop started with a welcome note by Mrs. Surabhi Kapoor, Head Dosti, Study Hall. She welcomed the participants and thanked them for taking out time to attend the workshop. Further Mrs. Tarannum. N Khan, Psychologist and Mrs. Shivalini Singh, Autism Trainer, started the session with a brief discussion on Autism and its core features. In the session parents came out with various questions and shared the problems faced by them while handling their children.
Later Divya Rai, Special Educator and Ankita Mishra, School Counsellor gave a presentation on Goal setting. They discussed about the process of goal setting, how a goal should be, parents role, etc. They shared various examples of Goals for four core features of Autism which can be set for a child.
The next session was on role play, the basic idea behind this was to demonstrate the importance of scheduling and early intervention for child with Autism. Two role plays were demonstrated where one child was trained child and the other one was untrained. Parents were asked to find out the difference between the two. Parents came up with various options. Then they were told the main idea of having a role play and how early identification and intervention plays an important role in the treatment of child with autism.
In the last session mothers were asked to play the role of therapist and psychologist played the role of a child with Autism. This was to show them how a therapist works with children and how to take care of their tantrums and mood swings. Participants found the workshop very informative and interactive.

LITTLE HEARTS WITH THEIR ART
Study Hall Junior School and Dosti joined hands with Prerna Girls School to host an art exhibition in Study Hall school campus in Lucknow. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Urvashi Sahni on 6th April, 2016 and was open to visitors for three days. For the first time, children of Gyansetu NECs {Non formal Education Centres} also participated. These centres are being run by the Study Hall Educational Foundation for out of school children in the slums and rural areas in and around Lucknow .
At the entrance, a beautiful collage’ of snapshots of children engaged in creating their masterpieces was interesting but nothing prepared the visitors for the amazing display of talent in the hall .They were awestruck by the magnificent paintings and collages created by groups of Junior School children, using a vast variety of mediums, under the expert guidance of their teachers Sangeeta Goyal and Aamina Amir. The painted utensils and the creative use of embroidery frames were novel and eye catching. Everyone was impressed by the little artistes describing their creations.
Prerna girls had some beautiful paintings along with craft while Dosti presented a wide variety of craft items that are needed everyday—gift bags, envelopes, baskets and much more.
The colourful and creative art work of the Gyansetu NEC children drew a lot of attention .All the paintings were created using the paper and art material given to the NEC children by their friends from the Junior school ,showing that Study Hall is truly a ‘ Universe of Care “.

The first convocation of NTT course By Study Hall Educational Foundation(SHEF) was held on April 7, 2016 in The Study Hall Prep School, Gomti Nagar Lucknow.
Founder and CEO : Dr Urvashi Sahni and The principal of Prep School , Mrs Shashi Mehta gave away the Certificates and mark sheets to the ten trainees graduating as trained teachers .
The Nursery Teacher Training course by Study Hall Educational Foundation strives to create able, caring and compassionate Pre primary teachers for the growing needs of children of the 21st century. The training programme aims to train trainee teachers in the classrooms. It follows the apprenticeship model. Teachers spend at least three hours every day in the classroom from the very first day .The course strikes a balance between theory and practice. Learning is enriched as the trainee teachers acquire teaching skills by being with children and watching experienced teachers at work. During the training the trainee teachers are given ample opportunity to observe and understand the young learners along with theory classes. They attend regular seminars and workshops conducted by experts in educational field .They get ample opportunity to teach in classrooms. Their teachings are recorded and viewed by them which helps in metacognition .They document all the practical learning in a portfolio .Overall, it as an enriching training programme which gives an edge as the future teachers are trained in classroom environments with the children, by the teachers .
All the master trainers of the Prep school gave congratulatory message note.Sufi song by Soni Srivastava added to the overall feel . Aman and Rini, children of the trainees expressed their feelings through a speech and song .Mrs Priya Kakkar , Director NTT shared the annual report . Ms Rachna proposed the vote of thanks .
