Study Hall Junior School Marks 40 Years with Sports Day 2025

Lucknow, December 13: Study Hall Junior School held its biennial Sports Day, Kaleidoscope, on Saturday afternoon at the grounds of Central Sanskrit University, Lucknow. The event brought together students, parents, and staff in a celebration of physical activity, participation, and teamwork. The chief guests, Mr Vishal Vikram Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF, UP Police, and Mrs Singh, inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons.

Principal Meenakshi Bahadur and Headmistress Bani Malhotra welcomed the audience and introduced the theme of the event. Explaining the significance of Kaleidoscope, Bani Malhotra, Headmistress, Study Hall Junior School, said, “As Study Hall marks 40 years of meaningful education, the ‘Kaleidoscope’ theme reflects the heart of our journey. Just as a kaleidoscope creates multiple patterns from simple elements, our school has, over four decades, recognised and celebrated the uniqueness of every child, bringing together diverse talents and perspectives within an inclusive learning community.”

Founder and CEO of Study Hall Educational Foundation, Dr. Urvashi Sahni, said, “As Study Hall completes forty years, we reaffirm a belief that has shaped every aspect of our work—that joyful learning and strong academics go hand in hand. Childhood is not a preparation for adulthood, but a celebration of life in the present. We see children not as adults-in-the-making, but as whole human beings whose voices and experiences matter. When children come to us, they are yours at home and ours in school, and together we share the responsibility of nurturing their curiosity, dignity, and confidence.”

Students of Classes 4 and 5 presented coordinated drills titled “Tile Tastic” and “Whispers of White”. This was followed by a March Past by the four school houses of Classes 4 and 5, representing the school’s ethos of care and unity. A yoga presentation highlighted the Indian knowledge system, and a choral performance accompanied the field displays.

Track events for students of Classes 1, 2, and 3 were held throughout the programme. Fun races were also organised for parents, with students cheering from the sidelines. Grandparents participated in selected activities, adding to the intergenerational nature of the event. The programme concluded with a performance by students of Classes 1 and 2, followed by an appearance by Santa Claus, marking the end of the event.

Celebrating the spirit of childhood: Jashn-e-Bachpan 2025

Lucknow, August 30, 2025: Study Hall Junior School successfully concluded Jashn-e-Bachpan 2025, a three-day interschool festival that brought together 1082 children from 21 schools across Lucknow and Varanasi. Held once every two years, the festival celebrated childhood in its truest sense — as a time of joy, imagination, teamwork, and discovery. CMS Gomti Nagar declared the overall winner, followed by DPS Jankipuram in second place and GD Goenka in third. While Study Hall School secured the top spot, being the host, it passed on the trophy to the runners-up.

Across three days, children from Classes 1–5 participated in more than 34 competitions spanning academics, arts, language, culture, and sports. From creative events like Play with Clay, Fold to Mould, and Tint of Texture; to problem-solving challenges such as Memory Run & Solve, Crossword, and Pi-Rate Treasure Hunt; to performances in खिलखिलाती कविताएँ, Verse-e Style, and A Band That Sings; and high-energy sports like Rescue Mission, Glide and Shine, and Chase the Glory — every activity gave children a platform to learn, express, and shine.

Reflecting on the festival, Ms. Bani Malhotra, Headmistress of Study Hall Junior, said, “Childhood is not just a preparation for adulthood, but a vibrant chapter full of laughter, wonder, and discovery. Jashn-e-Bachpan gives children a platform to express themselves, work as a team, and most importantly, to enjoy the process of learning and creating together.”

The festival concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony where children were celebrated not only for their wins but also for their participation, teamwork, and spirit. Jashn-e-Bachpan 2025 once again reaffirmed Study Hall’s commitment to holistic education that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and the joy of learning.

Science, Curiosity, and the Leap into Learning at Study Hall Junior

At Study Hall Junior’s Open House: Our Learning Labs, science didn’t stay in textbooks — it came alive in classrooms, corridors, and curious young minds. This annual event was a vibrant celebration of hands-on, inquiry-driven learning, where each class explored scientific themes and turned their learning into working models, live experiments, and even theatrical conversations with great scientists!

From Class 1 to Class 5, our students weren’t just learning science — they were doing science. They asked questions, built models, tested theories, and presented their discoveries with confidence and clarity. Classrooms were transformed into buzzing learning labs where curiosity was the guiding force and imagination had no limits.

Class 1 explored the basics of the world around them: understanding the day and night cycle, the magnetic force, absorption, and how sound creates vibration. They also conducted colorful experiments demonstrating capillary action, showing how colors travel through water — a perfect example of learning through wonder.

Class 2 delved deeper into natural forces, discovering how air occupies space and moves things. They learned about the water cycle, and used simple experiments to explore how vibrations create sound and how sound waves travel — bringing abstract scientific phenomena to life in accessible and meaningful ways.

Class 3 took on big ideas with big excitement — from understanding gravity and magnetic pull to creating visual demonstrations of capillary action. These young learners impressed everyone with their ability to explain and demonstrate scientific principles through play and observation.

Class 4 created a true highlight of the Open House with their theme: Garden of Great Minds. Their corner featured an engaging “Time Travel Talk” between Thomas Alva Edison and Madam Curie, helping children understand the difference between invention and discovery, and how electricity came to be. From the blubbery experiment to model-making around how electricity is produced, students explored the importance of sustainable energy and the future of solar power. With support from science educator Mr. Inderjeet Singh, they built working solar panel models, understanding the environmental impact of fossil fuels and the need to shift toward cleaner sources. It was inquiry-based learning at its best — thoughtful, hands-on, and connected to real-world challenges.

Class 5 took us across time and space with their creative “Time Travel Talks”, where students became Galileo and Alexander Graham Bell, interviewing each other to share their discoveries and inventions. They explained scientific principles behind the telescope, pendulum, sound waves, and even recreated planetary models to explore the universe and our place in it.

Across all classes, students didn’t just display what they had learned — they took us on a journey through their learning process. They investigated, experimented, reflected, and then proudly presented their work. This Open House was a powerful reminder of what children can achieve when we make space for exploration, creativity, and experiential learning in our classrooms.

At Study Hall Junior, we believe that science is not just a subject — it’s a way of thinking, questioning, and understanding the world. The Learning Labs Open House was a reflection of this belief, and of our commitment to transforming education into something joyful, meaningful, and future-ready.

From Fossil Fuels to Solar Panels: A Hands-On Learning Experience at Study Hall Junior

This year at Study Hall Junior’s Open House: Our Learning Labs, Class 4 took a deep dive into the world of electricity — not just learning how it works, but also understanding its impact on the planet. Through their exploration, the students discovered how the burning of fossil fuels to generate electricity contributes to environmental degradation and climate change. This realization led them to investigate cleaner, more sustainable energy sources, with a special focus on solar power. With the generous support and guidance of Mr. Inderjeet Singh, a science educator based in Lucknow who conducted engaging sessions with the children, the students built their own working solar panel models. These hands-on experiences brought science to life, turning abstract concepts into tangible understanding. The activity encouraged inquiry, experimentation, and collaboration — allowing students to connect classroom learning with real-world challenges. What emerged was more than just a science project; it was a joyful, meaningful journey into environmental consciousness and innovation. Through this experience, our young learners took their first steps toward becoming thoughtful, responsible citizens of the future — one solar panel at a time.

Study Hall Junior organises Art Fiesta: Families that paints together bonds forever

Study Hall Junior School hosted a vibrant Art Fiesta – “Family That Paints Together Bonds Forever,” celebrating creativity, togetherness, and the joy of artistic expression. The event welcomed students fromClasses 1 to 5, who, along with their parents and grandparents, joyfully participated in collaborative art activities. Special guest buddies from other schools also joined the fun, making the day even more memorable. Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Principal Meenakshi Bahadur, along with various unit heads of Study Hall Educational Foundation, graced the occasion, emphasizing the school’s commitment to holistic learning and family engagement.

The event aimed to strengthen the connection between teachers, parents, and children through creative expression. Families worked together on colorful canvases, painted murals, and crafted art pieces that reflected love, joy, and imagination. It was a celebration of family bonds, self-expression, and the belief that when schools and families come together, learning becomes a joyful and unforgettable experience.

Mrs. Bani Malhotra, Headmistress of Study Hall Junior, highlighted the significance of such initiatives, “Art has a wonderful way of bringing people together. This fiesta was not just about painting—it was about families sharing laughter, learning from each other, and strengthening their bond through creativity. We believe that children are yours at home and ours in school, and when parents actively engage in their child’s school activities, it fosters a sense of belonging and enhances children’s learning experiences.”

Parents and grandparents cherished the opportunity to be part of their children’s creative world. A Study Hall grandparent shared, “This was a fantastic opportunity to step into my grandchild’s world and create something together. I hadn’t touched a paintbrush in 45 years! It’s a memory we will cherish forever.”

Mother of a Class 1 student expressed her delight, “It was heartwarming to see children and parents immersed in colors and creativity. As a parent, I felt included and valued. It took me back to my childhood when I used to paint. I wish we had such activities when we were kids!”

By the end of the day, the school was transformed into a lively gallery of colorful masterpieces, filled with laughter, joy, and shared memories.
