“Yoga is a mirror to look at ourselves from within”
The world has now accepted that Yoga is an important tool to bring about mental, physical and spiritual well being of all. Yoga has therefore been recognised as an integral part of the School curriculum. With a focus on the importance of a robust body and mind, an Inter-House Yoga Competition was organised by Study Hall School for classes VII, VIII and IX on 13th October 2023.
The houses presented yoga asanas in solo and group categories. The music played an important role to enhance the serenity of the performances.
It was a great delight to see the participants perform various asanas with so much agility. Exquisite yoga postures were a hallmark of all the houses. Students moved from one pose to another effortlessly and seamlessly. The competition boosted the confidence and self-esteem of the young yoga enthusiasts.
The esteemed judges for the evening were Ms. Shibani Sahni, international yoga and fitness expert, Mr. Arun Soloman, swimming coach and basketball and volleyball trainer. He is also associated with various schools in Lucknow and leaves no stone unturned to provide training facilities wherever required and Mrs. Rachna Sinha, the headmistress Study Hall Prep School. The judges really found it tough to decide the winner. Riddhima Kumar of Silver Oak house bagged the first prize in the solo category. Fireflame house was given the first position in the rhythmic group performance. The joint winners for the day in both solo and group categories were Fireflame house and Silver Oak house.
Such competitions will not only help to revive the age old philosophy of Yoga, given by Patanjali, as a part of our lives but also help deal with stress and reduce our dependence on medicines and artificial supplements.
