Explaining the significance of Kaleidoscope, Bani Malhotra, Headmistress, Study Hall Junior School, said, “As Study Hall marks 40 years of meaningful education, the ‘Kaleidoscope’ theme reflects the heart of our journey. Founder and CEO of Study Hall Educational Foundation, Dr. Urvashi Sahni, said, “As Study Hall completes forty years, we reaffirm a belief that has shaped every aspect of our work—that joyful learning and strong academics go hand in hand. Childhood is not a preparation for adulthood, but a celebration of life in the present. We see children not as adults-in-the-making, but as whole human beings whose voices and experiences matter. When children come to us, they are yours at home and ours in school, and together we share the responsibility of nurturing their curiosity, dignity, and confidence.”

Students of Classes 4 and 5 presented coordinated drills titled “Tile Tastic” and “Whispers of White”. This was followed by a March Past by the four school houses of Classes 4 and 5, representing the school’s ethos of care and unity. Study Hall’s Annual Function Traces the Journey of the Indian Knowledge System

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Study Hall School organized its 2025 annual concert “From Ancient Roots to Modern Wings” on 7th and 8th November as a spectacular tribute to the Indian knowledge system at Sant Gadge Ji Auditorium in Gomti Nagar. Over 500 students from classes 6 to 12 showcased India’s intellectual and cultural journey from ancient to modern times, leaving spectators with the important message that India’s progress remains deeply rooted in its eternal ideals of truth, peace, and unity.

In the course of the evening, children brought subjects like history and philosophy to life on stage through music, dance, drama, and narration. “At Study Hall, we believe that learning happens best when children engage hands-on. By encouraging them to prepare a visual and cultural representation of the lessons learnt in the classroom, the concert solidifies their knowledge base in a memorable and enjoyable way,” said Dr Urvashi Sahni, CEO and Founder of the school which will soon mark 40 years of its innovative pedagogy and holistic approach to education.

The enthralling event chronicled the evolution of India’s thought systems, from the wisdom of the Vedas and the Shatdarshanas (six schools of philosophy) to Chanakya’s political and economic foresight and Emperor Ashoka’s moral transformation through Buddha’s teachings. The show also traced our civilizational legacy and the grandeur of our heritage from the Gupta Era to the Chola Period. The legend of Vikram and Betaal was revived through an entertaining blend of dance, dialogue, and drama. Students highlighted India’s global renaissance in diverse fields brilliantly led by Āryabhaṭa in maths, Kālidāsa in literature, and Swami Vivekananda in philosophy and spirituality, with special emphasis on the role of Sufi mystics and social reformers in India’s social awakening.

The school’s principal, Mrs Meenakshi Bahadur, said, “It’s essential that our young generation don’t forget the wisdom and glory of our erstwhile golden age as they move into a rapidly advancing, self-reliant India of the future. Our annual concert has made them familiar with India’s journey from Yoga and Ayurveda to modern leaps in space research, defence, sports, and even the development of Covaxin, empowering them with the knowledge of our nation’s ability to merge timeless wisdom with cutting-edge progress. We believe that this knowledge will drive them forward in their individual journeys to realizing their dreams and the dreams of the country.”

“Mangalam”, a soul-stirring invocation and dance performance praying for the peace, harmony, and happiness of all beings was the magnificent grand finale of the concert, echoing the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and bowing to the living heritage of India’s knowledge tradition.

Jyotirmay, a Study Hall student and head of this year’s SHMUN, said, “SHMUN gives us the chance to understand real-world issues and learn how countries work together to solve them. Leading this conference has been a challenging and rewarding experience.”

Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Founder and CEO of SHEF, said, “SHMUN is more than a conference; it is a space where young minds develop the skills, confidence, and empathy needed to become thoughtful leaders. Initiatives like these reflect SHEF’s commitment to nurturing students who can engage with the world critically and responsibly.”

Principal Meenakshi Bahadur added, “We are proud to see our students take on leadership roles and engage deeply with global issues. SHMUN is a platform that builds confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork among students.”

Amaljith for a special performance. The program was organized at two venues – Study Hall, Gomti Nagar Campus and Vidyasthali School in Malihabad.

Through expressions and movement, we can communicate universal emotions. I am grateful to SPIC MACAY and Study Hall for giving me the chance to share this with young audiences.”

Amaljith presented Kathakali, the classical dance-drama tradition from Kerala. He demonstrated the Nav Ras (nine emotions) and explained how the art form conveys stories from Indian culture through expressions, gestures, and rhythm. Accompanying him were Shri Suresh Kumar R, Shri Omanakkuttan, Shri Vinod Kumar, and Shri Sunil S, who supported the performance with music and percussion.

The session gave students a rare opportunity to experience Kathakali live. For many, it was their first introduction to the form. The artists also interacted with the students, sharing insights about the discipline and years of training required to master Kathakali.

Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Founder and CEO of Study Hall Educational Foundation, said: “Bringing classical art forms like Kathakali into our schools is not only about performance, it is about education. It gives our students a way to experience India’s cultural heritage directly. We want them to grow into confident global citizens who remain rooted in their traditions.”

This program was part of SPIC MACAY’s ongoing effort to introduce young people to Indian classical music, dance, and heritage. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, SPIC MACAY is a voluntary movement that reaches schools and colleges across India. Through its activities, it aims to help students connect with cultural traditions and understand the values embedded in them.

Designed and hosted exclusively by Study Hall, the festival aimed to integrate democratic values into education through dialogue, creativity, and critical engagement. Day 1 featured three core events: Talk-a-thon, where students participated in collaborative discussions on global citizenship and democracy; Pulse of Pi, a mathematics event that connected numbers and shapes with constitutional rights; and उन्मेष (Unmesh), a poetry writing competition in Hindi that encouraged young voices to reflect on justice, freedom, and identity. Day 2 expanded the spirit of the festival with Dance of Democracy — a series of thought-provoking performances using movement and storytelling to express democratic ideals; Civitas – We the People, a role-play event based on real Public Interest Litigations that encouraged students to explore the intersection of law and society; and Chain Reaction 2.0, a science + social impact challenge that linked scientific concepts to real-world socio-economic issues. The festival concluded with a heartfelt prize distribution ceremony, but more importantly, it reinforced Study Hall’s deep belief that education must go beyond the classroom — to empower young people to question, create, and lead with empathy and awareness in a democratic society.

CDRI Visit: 22 July 2025

On 22 July, 2025, students of Class 9 and 10 went on a full-day field visit organized by Study Hall School to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI) Laboratory on Sitapur Road, Lucknow. The educational trip aimed to promote critical thinking and to ignite students’ curiosity and interest in scientific research. The activity bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, and taught our young scientists about the relevance of research in daily life and its contribution to society. The day began with a briefing by the lab coordinator on the purpose and functioning of the laboratory. Accompanied by Science teachers Mr Dhananjai Singh and Dr Nidhi Sharma and guided by researchers, scientists, and lab technicians, the students gained firsthand experience of research work and laboratory procedures. The staff at CDRI interacted with students in a special session, answering all their questions and encouraging them to observe ongoing research projects and understand their significance. Our children sharpened their knowledge of advanced scientific instruments, equipment, and current laboratory techniques across STEM through tours of the biology, chemistry, and physics research units. By the end of the day, they had developed a good understanding of the working environment of a professional research laboratory.

Speaking about the experience, a student said, “The research laboratory visit was highly informative and inspiring. It helped us connect our classroom lessons to real-world applications.”
Dr. Nidhi added, “At Study Hall, we prioritize practical learning so students feel confident stepping out into whichever industry they choose. Such visits play an especially crucial role in motivating girls and boys to explore science and technology beyond textbooks.”
