Italian exchange programme 2019

On the 25th of April 2019, we welcomed our friends from Arezzo, Italy for a 10 days long exchange programme which has come in routine for our school. We set some goals for ourselves as to what we need to achieve from this opportunity. Keeping cross-cultural interaction as a top priority the students from Italy stayed with their studyhallian ‘buddies’ in their homes. The idea was to expose them to Indian culture as much as possible while simultaneously learning about theirs. The lot of 21 seemed to be relishing spicy food and loving the colourful vibe of the country. The Italians engaged in many comprehensive and substantial workshops at school. Daily Yoga classes emerged as a common favorite amongst them. Our extremely accomplished facility of music, fine arts and dance gave them a crash course on traditional Indian performing arts. The students hit the notes of “सा” as perfectly as they stroked the brushes to Madhubaniani folk art. The beauty of ‘Bada Imambara’ and the intricacies of ‘Chikankari’ left them in awe. On the evening of 29th April, our guests prepared mouth watering pasta for a small gathering at school. Our guests turned out to being a sporting lot as they were keen on taking up casual matches of football, volleyball and basketball with Studyhallians. Some field trips included a visit to other branches of the Study Hall Educational Foundation like ‘Vidyasthali’, ‘Study Hall Prerna’ (school for underprivileged girls), ‘Dosti’ (school for children with special needs) and ‘Gyan Setu’.
As we stand at the crossroads of human civilization we need our younger generations to be more accommodative, accepting and affluent of different cultures. We at Study Hall are proud that these values flourish in our students and prepare them to make a better tomorrow at a global scale.

Sufism is a mystical and ascetic Islam practiced by tens of millions of Muslims. Known as ‘Tasawwuf’ in the Muslim world, in the West it is often erroneously thought of as a separate sect. It was a truly divine experience for all of us when Sufism lifted our spirits up and helped us connect in a larger than life way.

Craft Mela organized by Study Hall Junior School

There was a riot of colours on the grounds of Study Hall on 20th February, 2019 as the Junior School organized the Craft Mela.

It was indeed delightful to see the children’s enthusiasm as they sat together in groups to churn out the most vibrant craft items with their nimble fingers.

Keeping in mind the three R’s (Reuse, Reduce and Recycle) the young ones made all possible efforts to bring out the ‘ best from the waste’.

It was an exhibition with a difference.  The visitors were greatly impressed to watch the children in the process of making the craft items instead of merely displaying the finished products.  Very confidently, the children also explained the entire process to the parents, leaving them awe-struck.

Dosti too was a part of the Craft Mela where they displayed the craft items prepared by them. These were highly appreciated by the parents.

We are proud to mention that many parents donated generously and the proceeds from the Mela will now be handed over to GyanSetu. This move has also helped to build empathy in our children. The spirit of teamwork was clearly evident as the children happily engaged in creative pursuits.

The table above shows the amount of water saved by our team in one month

In this project, we inserted bottles filled with pebbles and sand in the cisterns of our school. It uses the displacement method, by which less water is flushed, which is saving around 2O percent of water usage. Within three months only we saved approximately 67,080 liters of water.  By this method, we are not only preventing water wastage but also reducing the water carbon footprint.
