True to its style and traditions, the Study Hall Inter House Drama Competition was held at the eminent Sant Gadge ji Maharaj Auditorium, Gomati Nagar on Sunday 18th May 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
The curtain was raised with Jacaranda House presenting the play ‘Villa For Sale’ highlighting the tireless efforts of the owner to sell her villa. This was followed by ‘The Storm’ a psychological family drama with guilt and hidden fears wherein Cypress House displayed their dramatic skills.
A hilarious murder mystery ‘Inspector Rousseau Strikes Again’ was performed by Silver Oak House. The play kept the audience engrossed. Finally, the trials and tribulations of married life were brought out effortlessly by Fire Flame House with their performance of ‘When The Roses Bloom Again’.
The most outstanding performance of the evening will represent the school at the Inter School Drama Competition.
SYNOPSIS of the PLAYS
Inspector Rousseau Strikes Again
Inspector Rousseau begins to investigate a murder mystery. He is pretty clueless and ends up entangled in a hilarious twist.
The Storm
Josh Bolton has a spot in his past which he has concealed from his family. Only his wife Demi knows about it as nothing is hidden from her, not even the spirit which roams the house in search of acceptance and liberation. During a storm the spirit returns. Demi reveals the truth and Josh accepts his psychological guilt. The spirit is released.
Villa for Sale
The play highlights the tireless efforts of Juliette to sell her villa as she is facing a great financial crisis. Though the villa is at a prime location, there are no takers.
Gaston and Jeanne come to inspect the villa. Gaston, the husband seemed least interested whereas his wife, Jeanne is very keen on buying it. Finally, Gaston befools Mrs. Al Smith, the American actress, and purchases the villa making a huge profit.
When the Roses Bloom Again
The play gives us a peek into the mind of Elizabeth whose childhood dreams remain unfulfilled due to the drudgery she sees in her comparatively poor middle class home. In a momentary lapse of reason, she runs after a life of pleasure and excitement with her lover, William. Winnie, her daughter is following closely in her footsteps in order to teach a lesson to her fiancé, George. Obsession with self, to the exclusion of everything else, causes cracks in the relationship with their spouses.
